The UK’s first ever Gay Wedding Show

Written by Published in Our History

The UK’s first Gay Wedding Show held in Brighton yesterday, 14th November, leads the way for change in wedding shows for the future.

The show was like no other, gay couples came from all over the UK, as far afield as Scotland, Nottingham, Ireland . Visitors even flew in from Italy and Spain (especially with Spain ‘s new law setting the way in January 2005).

Over 450 people came to see the one day event explode with four elegant and stylish ceremonies, conducted by Brighton and Hove Register Office, a religious ceremony by Debbie Gaston from the MCC church, Civil Ceremonies and Belinda Chapman.

A step away from the norm

Exhibitors burst out from behind their stands and interacted with couples. The chocolate fountain teased guests to take a dip into smooth running chocolate. Flower displays like no other, the games mistress and the games mistress’s mistress with their horse races, fortune tellers and a vogue-style fashion show made the whole event come alive.

Gino Meriano, founder of Pink Weddings said, “The day was electrifying, history in the making, we created a show where exhibitors and couples could interact in a relaxed, friendly and above all fun environment. My team and I were on hand to offer advice and information about the Civil Partnership Bill and what the future holds for gay couples when the bill is, as we hope, passed.”

Ben Spence, founder of Pink Products said, “we were excited to see so many people turn up to our show. Many of our exclusive range of products and invitations were available on the interactive tables for couples to see, touch and create the look for their wedding day.”

This first Gay Wedding Show is only the beginning. Pink Weddings and Pink Products will take the show around the UK in 2005.
